Overview

The 2023 Opening Symposium addressed Precision Oncology for Midlife Women. The program included interactive panel discussions and Q&A with the audience.

The main program focused on Midlife Women’s Health in the Era of Precision Medicine and provided comprehensive and exciting updates on today’s most relevant issues related to menopause and midlife women’s health. A new session that included interactive case presentations tested attendees’ women’s healthcare knowledge.

In addition to the main program in 2023 there were two pre-courses; Menopause 101 and Medical Breast and Genetics 101.

For those who were unable to join us for the in-person meeting in Philadelphia, you can still access the content from the Annual Meeting main program and Opening Symposium, the Menopause 101 course, and the Medical Breast and Genetics 101 course virtually through OnDemand.

Scientific Program

The 2023 Scientific Program Committee was chaired by Lisa C. Larkin, MD, FACP, MSCP. The Annual Meeting with the theme Midlife Women’s Health in the Era of Precision Medicine, was held September 26-30, 2023, at the Marriott Downtown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There were two premeeting courses, including the highly successful Menopause 101 course and a new Medical Breast and Genetics 101 course and the topic for the Opening Symposium was Precision Oncology for Midlife Women. A new session included interactive case presentations to test attendees’ women’s healthcare knowledge and provided an opportunity to discuss various cases.

Menopause 101 Course

The 2023 course provided clinicians with a strong foundation in managing all aspects of menopause, from vasomotor symptoms and genitourinary symptoms to sleep, mood disturbances, and sexual function. The course focused on evidence-based treatment strategies for managing these menopause-related symptoms and provided attendees with information on how and when to prescribe hormone therapy, along with alternate nonhormone options including integrative medicine modalities.

Medical Breast and Genetics 101 Course

This new course addressed questions commonly faced by healthcare professionals about breast cancer risk estimation, options for average-risk screening, supplemental screening in women with dense breast tissue, and high-risk management strategies.

Opening Symposium and Main Program

The 2023 Annual Meeting provided comprehensive and exciting updates on the most relevant issues related to menopause and midlife women’s health. Topics included: cardiovascular health and obesity; bone health and osteoporosis; sexual health; nonhormone management of vasomotor symptoms; dermatology; rheumatology; selective estrogen-receptor modulators and the tissue-selective estrogen complex; dementia; providing trusted truths to menopausal patients in an online world of misinformation and disinformation; and much more.
