Research Pilot Funding Program
The Research Pilot Funding Program is designed to foster innovative research and support the career development of investigators in the field of women’s health during the midlife years. The MSR Fund will support up to four new independent pilot projects in 2025.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a member of The Menopause Society at the time of application and a researcher with a full-time faculty appointment or a clinical faculty member within 10 years of their appointment to a faculty position who has not previously received National Institutes of Health (NIH), Tri-Council (eg, Canadian Institutes of Health Research), Department of Defense, or similar federal funding. Postdoctoral or clinical residents can apply; however funds must be applied to conduct research and are not to be used for resident salary support.
Critical Criteria for Review
Critical criteria must include:
- An explicit focus on women’s health during midlife, with a particular emphasis on the menopause transition or early postmenopause biology, treatment, and life implications.
- Discussion of ways in which the proposed pilot project would lead to larger research efforts or proposals.
- If the proposed project is related to an existing project or collaboration, an explanation of how the proposed project constitutes a new area of exploration distinct from the primary work.
Budget Limitations
Funds are available to support up to four awards at a level of $25,000 USD each.
Applications and Due Date
Only applicants whose LOIs demonstrate a strong match with the program’s criteria will be invited to submit a full proposal. After reviewing LOIs, selected applicants will be notified and invited to submit a full proposal by February 25, 2025, at 5:00 PM (EDT). Full proposals are due by April 1, 2025, at 5:00 PM (EDT).
Program Oversight
The Menopause Society’s Board of Trustees appointed a Research Fund Task Force from its membership to oversee the Research Pilot Funding Program. The Task Force provides oversight for the application process.
