Research Pilot Funding Program

The Research Pilot Funding Program is designed to foster innovative research and support the career development of investigators in the field of women’s health during the midlife years.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a member of The Menopause Society at the time of application and a researcher with a full-time faculty appointment or a clinical faculty member within 10 years of their primary faculty appointment who has not previously received National Institutes of Health (NIH), Tri-Council (eg, Canadian Institutes of Health Research), Department of Defense, or similar federal funding.

Critical Criteria for Review

Applications must include:

  • An explicit focus on women’s health during midlife, with a particular emphasis on the menopause transition or early postmenopause biology, treatment, and life implications.
  • Discussion of ways in which the proposed pilot project would lead to larger research efforts or proposals.
  • If the proposed project is related to an existing project or collaboration, an explanation of how the proposed project constitutes a new area of exploration distinct from the primary work.

Budget Limitations

Funds are available to support up to two awards at a level of $25,000 USD each.

Applications and Due Date

Applications for the current funding cycle closed on April 30, 2024.

Program Oversight

The Menopause Society’s Board of Trustees appointed a Research Fund Task Force from its membership to oversee the Research Pilot Funding Program. The Task Force provided oversight for the application process.
