The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other healthcare providers who participate in this live activity will receive a certificate of participation. For nurses and other learners who need to report contact hours of pharmacotherapeutics education, NAMS has determined that this live activity includes a maximum of 1.5 hours of pharmacotherapeutics education.

Learning Objectives

By participating in this live activity, attendees should be able to

  • Understand the importance of effectively discussing and opening the lines of communication with women about their sexual health concerns.
  • Apply the appropriate sexual health assessment techniques in clinical practice.
  • Assess all treatment options in order to formulate an appropriate sexual health management plan for each woman.
  • Recognize the issues surrounding the use of testosterone for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in postmenopausal women.
  • Become familiar with the role of physical therapists in sexual function and dysfunction.

Learning Objectives

By participating in this live activity, attendees should be able to

  • Recognize issues in clinical practice for women at all stages of the menopause spectrum—perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause.
  • Identify strategies that enhance the probability for couples to maintain sexual desire in long-term relationships.
  • Define behavioral approaches and provide treatment options that have the highest likelihood of success for weight loss.
  • Become familiar with recent advances in the neurobiology and understand the effective treatment options for vasomotor symptoms.
  • Understand recommended bone turnover markers and select the best options for treatment for osteoporosis.
  • Evaluate genetic testing for breast cancer and review the management of genitourinary syndrome of menopause for women with or at high risk for breast cancer.
  • Understand the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment options for Alzheimer disease.
  • Review hypertension guidelines and new updates in heart failure and women.
  • Manage sleep disturbance in women and deploy appropriate pharmacologic or cognitive-behavioral therapy options.

Meet the Experts Breakfast Sessions

On Thursday morning, October 5, NAMS will offer the Meet the Experts CME breakfast sessions. On Friday morning, October 6, NAMS will offer a special session on the topic of Trauma-Informed Care (#MeToo). Each of these sessions are offered at a small additional fee and are certified for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other healthcare professionals who participate will receive a certificate of participation.
