2024 Annual Meeting Abstract Submission

Submission Guidelines 

Abstracts must be submitted using this online form.

The deadline for regular submission is April 30, 2024. The deadline for late-breaking submission is July 1, 2024. Guidelines follow: 

  • Each author may submit up to five abstracts for consideration. 
  • There is a limit of 4,545 characters for the text of the submission. Character count includes spaces, title, authors, institutions, tables, and images. The character count will be displayed in the bar at the top of the submission. 
  • Information submitted for consideration must not be identical to that presented at any meeting prior to The Menopause Society Annual Meeting, and the study must not have been published as of the submission date. 
  • All abstracts will be published in Menopause
  • The Menopause Society reserves the right not to review an abstract or not to publish an abstract if the abstract submission does not conform to all requirements. 
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English, in a structured format. 
  • Late-breaking submissions must be truly late-breaking, meaning the material was not available for submission by the regular deadline of April 30, 2024. 

Award Availability

Authors who wish to be considered for a New Investigator Travel Award must have earned their degree within 7 years and not previously been given this award. Proof of eligibility is required. They also must be the presenting author on the abstract. 

Authors who wish to be considered for a NIH ORWH Travel Award must possess a baccalaureate or higher degree, be a medical student from any health-related discipline, be a postdoctoral trainee, be an American Association for the Advancement of Science fellow, be a medical resident or fellow in-training, be a member of the uniformed services or National Guard, or be an investigator who is no more than 5 years past a doctoral degree or residency. The applicant must be the first author on the submitted abstract and may not be a Federal employee. 

Types of Presentations

Oral Presentation: Authors of the top scoring abstracts will be invited to present from the podium during the meeting. 

Poster Presentation: All other abstracts will be considered for poster presentations. Up to three Poster Prizes will be awarded, with a top prize of $1,000. 

Review and Selection Process

All abstracts are subjected to a blinded review by three independent members of the Abstract Review Committee (ARC). After being submitted to the ARC, submissions may not be altered. Abstracts are scored as follows: 

  • Approach 
  • Innovation 
  • Impact of study findings on field of menopause 
  • Clarity 

Approach: Is the study design appropriate to the study aims? How strong are the research methods with respect to selection of participants (inclusion/exclusion) and procedures used to assess outcome measures? Is the analytic approach appropriate to the study goals? Do the study conclusions flow from the results? Are study limitations recognized? 

Innovation: Does the project challenge and shift current research or clinical practice paradigms by using novel theoretical concepts, approaches, methodologies, instrumentation, or interventions? 

Impact of Study: Does the project address an important problem or a critical barrier to progress in the field of women’s health at midlife and beyond? Does the project improve scientific knowledge, technical capability, or clinical practice? Does the project change the concepts, methods technologies, treatments, services, or preventive interventions that drive the field of women’s health at midlife and beyond? 

Clarity: Is the research study presented in a clear and easily understandable manner? Are the goals of the science, the findings, and the interpretation readily accessible to the audience? 

Notification and Receipt of Acceptance

  • Receipt of abstract submissions will be acknowledged via email to the contact author. 
  • After the review process is complete, authors will be notified by June 15, 2024, regarding the acceptance or rejection of their submissions. Late-breaking notifications will be sent at a later date. 
  • Notification of travel awards will be sent in July 2024. 

Cancellations

Authors of accepted abstracts who do not present their work or fail to have it presented by a coauthor will not be permitted to have abstracts considered for presentation at The Menopause Society’s Annual Meeting for the next 2 years. Exceptions may be considered if because of extreme unforeseen circumstances.
